Subject: Ideal A1c level

Pittsburg, Kansas

For type II diabetics some doctors and organizations say be happy with anything between 7 and 8. I think that is BS. Back when I was on insulin a nurse friend of mine marveled that I kept my A1c at 6.9 or 7.0. He thought that was great and made the comment that if he could get all his elderly patients down to that it would be great. Now I know that is NOT great, I'm currently at 5.8 (previous year 5.7) and I sure would love to get it down to 5.6 or below and officially be non-diabetic instead of pre-diabetic.

I ran across this and thought it went well with the theme of this thread. This is not a normal channel I follow, but I thought the guy gave a pretty good presentation on A1c levels.
