Subject: RE: shop talk

I have windows in the south facing bi-fold door that are low-E and insulated. In the summer the sun shines on the floor close to the door and does not raise the temp of the floor. In the winter the sun shines on the floor farther in and where it hits it can be 70 degrees F or a little higher. If I would do it over I would put another row of windows in the upper section so they would shine even farther in. LED lights run so cheaply that you can't afford to have energy sucking openings in walls........ Our walls are 10" thick. That being said I do have a large picture window in my office. All the windows are facing south except in the walk doors and a couple small ones in the overhead door facing east. I have a small LED light bulb near the middle of the building that stays on continuously. It's enough light to walk in and grab something without turning on the whole set of lights. This works for me.
