Northwest, Iowa | I have come to the conclusion that I need to do something different with my stalks in the fall. Currently we have calmer stalk rolls on the corn head that I think chew up the stalks pretty good and then we hit it with a Sunflower disc. in the spring we go over it with a field cultivator and then plant it. I do not have a rolling basket on the field cultivator. my problem is root balls and or trash bunches that I cannot get smoothed out in the spring. I would love to try something other than just discing the stalks, the big tractor is a 400 hp Quad trac so don't have extra ponies to play around with. what do you guys think would be my best option to go with? Yes, we do have hills to play with also.
thanks BK
