I'm at a loss on how to swivel my 1200 planter around and get it into planting position. Tried reversing my Pro 700 to Version 28 but it's now lost most of it's usefulness. Was on Version 32+.
I have a UD+ that would be compatible with the planter IF it had Planter Firmware on it instead of Harvest as it came out of my 2388 combine. How does a person go about putting Planter Firmware onto it? My new young Tech hasn't ever had to do it and wasn't exactly sure of the process.

Can definitely be done, as long as your planter has compatible electronics. If I recall correctly, the UD+ is only compatible with the gold-colored UCMs on the planters. If yours has silver boxes (I think they changed in 2009??), then you're probably out of luck. Your tech will need to use his service laptop (Electronic Service Tool) to load your UD+ with planter software, and should make sure that the planter controllers are running the latest compatible versions as well.
Also, the Pro 700 harness is different from the UD+ harness. There was an adapter harness to go from UD+ to Pro 700, but there's no adapter to go back the other way, so you'll either need to somehow fab your own or install a separate UD+ harness alongside the Pro 700 harness on that tractor.
Remember that the UD+ is a completely different animal from the Pro 700. Slower, harder to see, completely different user interface, etc. Might be worth seeing if your dealer has a loaner Pro 600, or spend a little more time to see if you can get the Pro 700 to to work. Your tech should be able to get the compatibility info from Case IH support. He was probably born after the UD+ was obsoleted, so it makes sense that he wouldn't have much experience with it... | |
