| Will second all he said. I have one but seldom have knives in. Takes more hours and slows ground speed down and I don’t notice difference at the bale feeder and I don’t get a premium slicing the hay I sell.
I don’t have a vertical mixer but I have a reel mixer and I will slice 50-100 bales of hay or straw a year that I use in it and it does make a difference. If I wanted short stem hay I’d get the chopper out.
When it’s chopped at 3/4 to 1” it mixes in anything and is way cheaper to bag haylagebthan wrap baleage | |
