Subject: Network configuration tests all can do

I agree with previous replies - since other things work wirelessly, it's not your router.
I agree as well the seven year old wireless adapter maybe this issue, since the ethernet works.

Since the laptop works wirelessly elsewhere, it is likely the configuration of the wireless connection

Examine the Network configurations of your computer
from a Command prompt, type the following command -

The result will show all configurations for both the ethernet and wireless adapter connections. Look for the "wireless adapter" section. Your laptop's wireless and ethernet adapter should have the exact same IP numbers for:

1- DHCP server (issues the IP addresses for all connected devices)
2- Default Gateway (the "gateway" to the outside internet)
3- DNS server (system that converts into a computer-usable IP address)
Test to confirm DNS is configured properly - (the system that converts into an IP number for computer to use)

Should result in 4 "pings" back from the IP address of website.
