There hasn't been a 2630 update in many many years so it's not likely that you would need a software update or that would be the issue. 

If it changes by field, I'd be tempted to export whatever data you have on it now. Load a new setup file into the 2630 from either Apex or OC with all your equipment, fields, etc and see if that changes how it acts.
