scmn

Is it a rock well?  When we drilled our well a standard well was $28/ft and a rock well was over $50/ft.  Rock drilling is slower than clay/sand and you have to steel case from bedrock to surface.  With clay/sand they case the well with PVC.

For every 100ft of 6" steel casing there is 2500# of steel which @ $1/# is an $25/ft for casing as compared to 6" PVC @ $3/ft.  Once into rock the drilling rate is reduced about 50% from clay/sand so you end up at close to 2X the cost per foot for the drilling.  If they have to drop their pump further down in a rock well then you have more wire and pipe and often need a larger pump for the same flow due to more head loss from lifting higher and longer pipe.
