Subject: RE: Blood work question

Pittsburg, Kansas
Here one doctor has some information on blood tests.

One thing he recomends is everyone get a fasting insulin test. This will indicate insulin resistance many years before a person reaches trouble with pre-diabetes or diabetes. He wants it to be in the single digits. Basically the "normal" range is just a statistical number based on the averages the labs get, not an optimal level for health. In other words if 3/4 of the population is insulin resistant, then the blood test averages are going to be high for optimum health.

He talks about other tests than can be beneficial for finding chronic inflammation, like C-peptide test. I requested a C-peptide test from my doctor and he was both surprised and pleased. He said hardly anyone would even know what the c-peptide test was for and seemed to appreciate that I was interested in my diabetic health more than just on the surface level.
