If you can reach in with a hammer, tap down one end so the opposite end sticks up a bit. Then I like to use a small sacrificial screwdriver to get underneath it--less likely to mess up the shaft than if I use a chisel. Use antisieze when putting it back together. Halloween is coming and the "tin man" costume generated by antisieze is always in style.
