We are at the point where the available supply of corn is at it's lowest level

but that is going to change fast over the next 10 days as the moisture drops in the corn that is in the field

I would see nothing wrong with setting the basis on that corn you will want to move by March

basis is going to widen pretty fast so make your decision and ACT

while I generally agree overall as harvest moves ahead and the core Cornbelt gets going.. still that grain must find its way West.  With the railroads still uncertain it may be awhile before some areas see basis back off.

Trucks can attack the margins.. but during harvest trucks are needed to bring the crop in.. it’s going to take the railroads operating at some semblance of normalcy to make a dent in things.

side note.. we’re actually finally starting to get some rain.. more needed but each drop brings hope of establishing the 2023 HRW crop.. given yields.. and costs.. Feed Grain acres may be chucked for the bird in hand HRW wheat acres.. guys are primed to drill a lot of wheat acres if given the chance.

All in all.. a very fluid situation.

We’ve seen basis appreciation here.. not sure it’s done yet.

Even Soybeans are starting to join the party.
