NorthCentral Illinois
Did a lot of acres with that style on corn on corn that had been strip tilled. Never had much problem with them had to watch the gap between the blades and skid shoe. If it got to wide it allowed trash to build up in their but it rarely stopped the blade from turning unless it was damp and then mud would get in there. Usual fix was replacing the bolt that the skid frame pivoted on. Bolt would flex and then bend allowing the gap to widen. The poly skid shoes would last about a season to season and half doing around 1800-2000 acres per year.

Another thing to check is where the closing wheel pivots to see if it has been properly greased. If they are froze in place or not much movement will need to be taken apart and cleaned. The older version of the magnums the stop for the closing wheels would break because of a poor design the welds would crack from stop banging on them. Can be fixed by beefing it up with some steel. Later versions the stop is integrated into the frame eliminating that problem.

You can hammer out a lot of acres per day with them in the right conditions big fields with not very many water ways. Can run between 6-8 mph depending on set up.
