South Central MN | I'd want another 3-4' all around for a pit that big. You don't want the chairs right at the edge of those slats falling off.
We bought a breeo smokeless pit. It wasn't cheap, and they're far more expensive now than when I bought mine, but the extra venting really does work to keep smoke down and makes it far easier to light. I have spent hours in the direct path of what's left of the smoke before with little effect other than I smell smoky at the end of the night. I'm a guy where if I go into a hog barn without a mask for 5 minutes I'll be hacking up a lung for weeks, so for the smoke to not bother me was impressive. Long story short, aside from a plug for the breeo, make sure you have some ventilation through that pit. It'll work wonders to make it easier to light and keep smoke down. | |
