It is very rare for corn here to not pollinate. I can remember 2 times since 94 when it was a problem here. In 98 it did not rain in June and first part of July, maybe 100 kernels per ear. Other time was in 2007 when it rained for 3 or 4 days straight, most got pollinated but was huge difference in stage of kernels on same ear.

In 2011 when it was hot all the time the corn that had enough moisture to tassel out pollinated.



2011 was the worst year here since 1980. We made silage out of one field, it was good feet. Called crop insurance, they inspected the remaining fields, called it 1/2 bu and said do as you like, w will pay. We never even put the corn head on. In 2012 we had about a 55 bu average, 2013 we finally got back to the 120s.
