just a tish NE of central ND | Go for it! Around here the barley contracts are for about 10 percent of that price to grow what ever they company offer.Some of the varieties (2 row barley, mind you) look like spindly looking crap growing out in the feilds.
....>Over the years any 2 rowed barley was considered feed barley and they didnt buy any of it from us growers and we sold it for a even crappier price at the elevator for feed. If it wasn't 6 rowed malting barley they didnt want it and said it wasn't for malting.Today the contracts being made for malting is almost all 2 rowed feed barley. My current malting contract is with 2 rowed barley.
We have been told they expect to make 32 gallons of beer from one bushel of malting barley.
