And then pay capital gains...There are lots of reasons people trade at dealerships rather than sell outright.

Not all dealerships make bad deals. I've also yet to see one hold a gun to your head and force you to stay in their building or make a deal.


As far as the DEF delete, I've traded for a few that way, some I knew before hand, some I didn't. Didn't affect the resale a bit, some people prefer it. As far as a law, not sure about that. Depending on what was wrong with the DEF system in the first place, it could be a simple fix or very expensive to take back to factory. The software shouldn't be an issue, other than paying a dealer to do it. Dealer software should overwrite anything the tuner did and take it back to factory.
