You best bet and buy would be a John Deere 535,567, 568. Maybe even a 566 but those are not as popular. Never figured out why exactly, but they just are. The rest all use basically the same belts and parts that are still used today. Very dependable machines and that is coming from a person who don't necessarily use green stuff!!!!!
530 had just one twine trying arm and no net wrap.
535 had 2 tying arms and net wrap available.
567 had megawide pickup available.
568 you could get the big tire option and bigger and heavier drive chains using 80 size chain.
I would buy a 567 or 568 in your price range or below and definitely get one with net wrap. Difference of about 12 seconds to wrap 2 wraps on a net bale vs 30 to 45 seconds tying twine on a 535 or newer. Get one with megawide pickup if you can. Lots more variables to help you decide but maybe too long for me to type. The JD also hold their value better than any other brand and again very easy to get parts for!! But yet they are very dependable. Have had other brands myself before but will never buy another one that isn't a JD!
