Friend had a gas water heater that barely lasted a year. Bottom started to leak. Warranty through Menards.
Water heaters are not made to last anymore. They are all the same even if you buy the one with the longest warranty. The only addition might be a sacrificial zinc anode rod with the more expensive version. The steel tank is the same thickness for all of them.
