Subject: RE: Beef cattle deaths and media

Alberta Canada
Hey Pedro, I read your post, and I would like to point out some information that was missing.

"In any case, both are wrong."

The media reports on many stories that they are not completely familiar with, this can lead to missing and distorted information or mistakes.

"Killing animals is wrong."

Cattle are herbivores, (plant eaters), all around the world, and through history, herbivores are eaten by carnivores and omnivores.
It isn't wrong, it's nature.

"But, there are many reasons why cows die and it is due to their nature not the climate."

Yes, all cows eventually die, from many causes. But in this case it was the sudden high temperature and lack of wind. It is similar to how a heat wave can also kill people.

"1. Cows are meant to be grazing animals and not eating packaged grain."

Grains, seeds, stems, and leaves, are all a normal part of cattle diets, both when they are grazing, and when they eat in a yard.

"The fact is cows are fickle eaters and hence they often die."

No, that would be sheep.

"2. It is harsh in the country because they don't have any shade or shelter."

Cattle shelters are like sports venues, outdoor fields cost less, have more room, natural light, and lots of fresh air, but they have less protection from wind, snow, rain, and sun. They are designed for the normal weather in the local area.

Cattle yards are somewhat like cities, they have running water, roads, sanitation, stores of feed, medical care, and protection from being attacked.

"3. They store fat for winter and hence suffer from heart attacks in summer."

Cattle get fat any time of year if they have lots of good feed.
Heart attacks are not very common.

" 4. Cows have various diseases, some of which are contagious."

All plants and animals have diseases, and lots of them are contagious.

" 5. Cows, of course, have more babies than humans. "

Cows like making and raising calves.

"This is because cows have no retirement for old age, no welfare, and no retirement. So, when she is old, she is sent to the slaughterhouse."

Herbivores in nature don't retire, they generally get sick or injured, or just killed and eaten.
Slaughterhouses are designed to make the process clean quick and painless, unlike in the wild, where it is often slow, painful and terrifying.

"All in all, cows are led a horrible life"

Cattle are generally comfortable, well fed, and not stresed.

"which is probably why humans have turned their back on the practice of eating beef."

Lol, nope, the smell of a barbecue is very appealing to most people.

"So, both the cows dying and babies being aborted are tragic"and have bad repercussions to the environment.

What are the environmental repercussions?
