Subject: Shooting clay pigeons

Martinton,il
I shoot clay pigeons with a 12 gauge Browning that I have had for almost 50 years and now with a bad back and refusing to give up shooting, I have pain after an hour or so of shooting with friends. I was told that a 7/8 oz shell would have less recoil that the 1 1/8 oz shells I am now using. Is this true? I really don't want to go to another gun if I could just change shells. I can't seem to find 7/8 oz shells for sale anywhere either. I use too many to pay stupid money for them either. I used my cousin's 20 gauge one time and it was better but it's not my gun. Thanks to anyone who can help with this.
