Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS

I grew up on a farm in northeastern Mississippi, mostly through the 1960s, 70s, and into the early 80s. Back then we were still growing cotton but usually didn't finish planting soybeans until late June, sometimes even into July. Ran open station tractors in this heat and worse. Mentioned to some folks today that these mid-90 degree and higher temps remind me of cotton hoeing weather. Look down the field and you could see the heat waves dancing in the air. Any time a dust devil (small whirlwind) would kick up I would drop my hoe and run to try and get in it so I could feel a bit of a breeze. When there was water in the creek I would soak my shirt and put it back on to stay a bit cooler.

When it's still so hot at 10:00 p.m. that you can't sleep, even with a fan on you, it's hot, I don't care who you are.
