I told this before but about 45 years ago we broke a hydraulic hose during planting season, I had some extra hoses hanging on the wall of toolshed so went to get one just about dark. As I reached up to get one there was movement, a 3 or4 ft bull snake hanging with those hoses . I guess he was just looking for "love" but I dont know if he learned to swim when we threw him off the side of the bridge on the way back to the field.
Bull snakes can swim.
I removed one from our shop one time and threw it across the canal out front, it’s probably 30’ wide there. He was not impressed. He went right down in the water and came right back across. He was back in the shop within the hour so he got the shovel treatment.
I think it was right at a year when we had our first bull snake in our new house, and a year or two later there was a little rattlesnake in the garage.
