Southeast WI | So what do we want - schools to do everything for us now? I thought NAT wanted the 3 R's and that was it? School is for a well rounded education. Maybe how to be an employee should be part of the curriculum but the core problem is how parents stopped being real parents in the later 80's forward. Coddling their kids, taking kids to every damn sports event has ruined many a child and destroyed people volunteering for service groups that actually help kids long term. This whole infatuation with sports is BS and don't give me crap about how it helps kids in real life. There's a few kids around here that are in high school that work for us. One is a good ball player but his parents make sure he knows how to balance that with working to learn that end of life. And guess what. These parents are my age (older parents) that were raised with a work ethic and some of the few families with that. | |
