Also I've never had animals bloat on it. There is also a few varieties of Kochia that have been introduced from Uzbekistan for winter range grazing in western states, and for fire suppression too. Back in Uzbekistan they cut and store it for winter feed, they call it their alfalfa in a way I was told. That stuff is better to graze in Sept-Dec. in our country were as the variety you are asking about is best used June-July in my world for grazing. I hate it in any of our alfalfa crops or feild borders, you need to cut it forever takes a long time to dry down to bale vs. Alfalfa.

We have seen on our western ranges the forage kochias used for fire suppression and feed that wildlife really loves it. It will draw Elk to it like crazy.
