West Union, Illinois | msb - 6/12/2009 19:32 Lets see. $3.99 divided by the 12 ounces in a can is $.3325 an ounce.------- 30# x 16 oz =480 ounces $99 divided by 480 = $.20625 an ounce or $2.475 for 12 ounces compared to the can price of $3.99,if I did that right. Unless youy use a bunch of it like Jonsey does, the 12 ounce cans are the best deal. A lot handier to use too. Is that why I have a 30# tank in the shop ?lol. Ummm "Unless youy use a bunch of it like Jonsey does, the 12 ounce cans are the best deal" ? I guess the decision is based on how much you use. For the price of 18 3/4 pounds in cans (25 - 12 ounce cans) you can buy a 30# cylinder. For me Yes, the cans would be a better deal because I would never use a 30# cylinder. But it wouldn't take a lot of AC work to make the cans uneconomical. This reminds me, we have been kind of inventorying things for Dad's estate. How much is a pound can of R12 worth now ? We found one in the safe.
