Subject: Re: Deere tracked tractor w/77 hours

Shaftsbury, Vermont (SW VT)
I dunno how smart the factory engineers are, or maybe it's the lawyers being cautious about loopholes. With all the sensors and controllers on a modern tractor, Deere still won't "Murphy" up a tractor that's sitting on a generator or blower, running unattended. It can dump the oil and still keep running until destruction. It will derate if overheated, though, but that might just make it worse, lugging along. I guess they're afraid of a tractor stopping dead in the road or something. Duh!! There's no-one in the seat, and the tranny is in park!! It's OK to shut down.
Rant over; just hate to see an offhand dismissal of a engine saving use of technology. Oliver Durand
