Subject: RE: spx 4420

I work at a fertilizer plant and I spray with a 4420 with 120' booms everyday. The ride isn't bad, but if the ground is rough to begin with, its worse in the sprayer. The spring suspension just doesn't quite cut it. The cab is quiet from outside noise but the cab pressurization system is loud. I believe the sprayer has a 140 gallon fuel tank and I can spray about 1,000 acres before I need to worry about looking at the fuel gauge. As for a height control system, we run the NORAC boom control system and it is junk... You have to drive too slow to give the booms enough time to react to keep them out of the dirt on a rolling field and the CASE hydraulic system is slow to respond to drop the boom back into position after it raises. I can go on and on about pro's and con's... My opinion is forget the 4420 and the Rogator and get a Deere! They have the best features to do the job.
