ND | Start menu, search CMD, right click on on command prompt/and, run as administrator, allow it to run as administrator, then type in sfc /scannow and hit enter
Let it run and see what it says when done. Sfc /scannow is window's system verification system, so if something windows is related is messed up or missing its supposed to fix it. If it finds something, it'll say it found something when it's done and when it's done power cycle it.
Keep 7 going on it. I tried windows 10 on an SSD on a 5th generation Intel system(I 7 5930k) it ran ok but no where near as snappy as 7.
Worst case scenario search Ebay for a boxed version of the windows 7, version that you have, install DVD, put it in, have it boot from the DVD and select the "repair" option.
