While I don't disagree that different manufacturers hoses and fittings will fit together, I haven't seen it recommended by the manufacturers. Also, when I've had hoses crimped at hydraulic stores, the couple I've been too specifically will not crimp different hoses and fittings as I had to visit several to find one that would crimp Aeroquip hoses.
