Subject: RE: Hand Held GPS

I have been marking rocks for years with a hand held Garmin sport GPS. They make an attachment to power it using the cigarette lighter plug in and I have never used an outside antenna with mine. I use mine mostly when I seed and sometimes at harvest if the crop is really poor and you can see the ground fairly well. I mount mine in the cab and as I go by or over a rock I just push the button to mark the spot. I do not stop to mark things just keep rolling. Later I put the GPS on whatever I’m using to pick the rocks and it guides me right to them or at least close enough that I can see them. Most hand helds can mark waypoints like that, some have a lot more points that you can mark. It makes picking rock so much faster and I get a more complete job done also
