With some careful searching you can often find the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) for IBM/Lenovo equipment that might be of some assistance with troubleshooting. That said, when they're that dead, they're usually not recoverable. At least not easily.

Years back my venerable T23 died in a similar manner. It turned out that a filter on the power supply input had come loose from cold solder joints. I was able to resolder it and it still works, though the BIOS battery is dead. I rarely pull it out of the bag except to program some older Kenwood 2 Way radios. Een now it's not needed for that as I can run the software in FreeDOS under QEMU (virtual machine).

It might be worth looking over the old MB to see if there is something obvious like a loose component, fix that, and try swapping it back in.
