Subject: Gemplers Rust Converter

I bought a gallon of Gemplers Rust Converter to repaint some hay racks after seeing some posts here about how well it worked. I've tried others in the past, including some stuff called Mar-Hyde I believe which worked great. The Mar-Hyde stuff came in a spray can, but the stuff I see in the automotive section at the farm store has gotten spendy at over $7.00 for a can.

Anyway, last fall I got all the rust and flaky paint off, then used the Rustoleum Rust Converter. It slowed down the rust, but there are several spots where it came through anyway, even after a few coats.

I started going over them again with the Gemplers which seems to dry to a good, hard finish similar to the Mar-Hyde.

For the other guys who have used Gemplers Rust converter, did you put on a couple light coats? A medium coat? or one heavy coat?
