Subject: 1530 deere drills on a houk hitch

Northwest, Ohio
Looking at a pair of these as a 30' unit. It has corn planter units to place the soybean seed, but the fluted feed type metering device. With the HD no till coulters, it appears to be able to put seed into very hard soils with good depth control. That's the reason to look around for something better than what we currently use.
Like the idea of having the weight of the drill distributed to help hold the units down all across the width, not just where the seed hopper is such as an air seeder(out of the budget anyway).
Would a JD 1780 with 15" spacing be a better unit? I've heard they don't float too well. A 1780 can't be heavier than a 12X30 with fertilizer, or can it?
