Manitoba | And now the answers to the questions--the drill is a 52 footer--we would have difficulty pulling a 61 foot in the heavier soils north of us and we are using a 4 1/2 inch spread tip for an opener. You can use the green drop for VR'ing, but you are restricted to the range of the nozzles that are in the pots. If we want to go higher than 30 us gal per acre, we have to use 30 nozzles-other wise with the 20's we can get a range of 20 to 30 gal per acre. The pump is a ground drive--although a hyd. drive might work better for consistency except that just taxes the hyd system on the tractor more. We are using the GS2600 monitor, a flowmeter, pressure gauge and a GS2 VR system to VR the liquid N. I agree with you with regards to the suspension, and even with the Green Drop system, we have had a lot of grief trying to keep the nozzles clear. For our phosphate and sulfur, we have opted to pay a little more and go with liquid there too, and that pretty well only applies to peas, flax and soybeans. Otherwise we put P, K and S down dry with the seed on the cereals. More questons, fire away!! | |
