West Central Texas | I have a '82 4640 quad-range with about 6700 hours. Bought it in '05 when it had a little better than 5000 hrs. Probably one of the best tractors we've had. No major problems, just things like the alternator, starter, AC and radiator. The quad transmission is good, like the other posters said don't shift the range lever while moving. The one you're looking at should probably have a bottom end done on the engine fairly quick and you should be good to go for a long time. Wish it were possible to buy a brand new 4640, I would buy one in a heartbeat. Good luck with your decision. | |
