Subject: Re: Lightening Up for Wet ground

I put a lot of similar thought into planting last year. Thought about huge balloons on the tractor fronts and duals on the tractor, them something wide for the planter wheels. But I didn't find the duals handily and I remembered that this black dirt turns to concrete when worked wet, so If it was so wet I needed all that floatation that planting the beans in ground that wet would just encase them in chunks of concrete and they wouldn't do any good, so I just waited until better conditions. So I planted beans about mid June and some of them drowned out. Some places I drove around the first week and planted a week later. In mid July when I sprayed, found more that I'd missed or that had drowned out so I bought some really short season beans and planted them. Some of them drowned out.

So just be patient, working this ground wet won't benefit the crop.
