| If you are going to do most of your work at 5 gal. acre or less, a 230 will produce a lot of work with little compaction. They are somewhat under powered in soft ground but if there aren't hills, the power is manageable. The liquid cooled VW is a very good little engine, unlike the air cooled VW. If you should get one stuck, do not abuse the Trans axle,ESPECIALLY IN REVERSE. This is the weakest link in the drive train, but will give many hours of service if not abused. If you are buying one of these, an indication of Trans axle problems developing will usually show up in either having a hard time shifting into reverse, or hopping out of reverse when torque is applied. Make sure it has HYDRAULIC booms. | |
