Quincy, IL | Dear Mr. Brown, You are correct on the 900/65R32 R-2 tires, but did you look at the width of rims that are on your New Holland combine? They are 27” wide. If you look at the standard 35.5” wide tires, you will find they are on as small as 31” wide rims! Also, you know 900 mm is the same as 35.5.” Therefore, the rims are 4” less, which makes the tire crown in the center, and under heavy loads the rim breaks down the sidewall. Tests have show this and Case/New Holland was told to increase rim width or tires would not be under warranty. John Deere agreed and went with wider rims. Case/New Holland has not because they haven’t heard of any problems – maybe a word from you could help solve this problem. As the wheel and tire manufacturer, we know the problem you are having. It’s the same as if your shoe size is a 10 and you try to walk in size 7 – you will get sore feet. This problem is the same on 800/710R620 and 600 series metric tires. Titan/Goodyear is solving these problems with wider rims and strengthening the tire sidewalls. Every one of Titan’s competitors has problems as well. The reason for narrow rims is because they were cheaper by a few bucks and Case/New Holland, Deere, nor any of the OEMs warranty tires. If you need new wheels, call Ron Schildt, president of Titan Wheel, at (217) 221-4448 and he’ll give you a price on an exchange. |
