In general I would agree with you about leaving it in the field. However the answer may completely change depending on where you are and the weather between now and getting the pile picked up. It is risky either way. Or it may work either way. There is a loss of quality and quantity stored in a pile. Maybe less than leaving it in the field. However combining snowy corn with the sieve and chaffer plugged with frozen snow is no treat either. It all depends on the weather and where you are, jmho.
