The key to cover crops is keeping them cheap. If it costs $60/a, it is totally out of the question for grain production systems (veggie producers might still use it).

Chickling vetch doesn't like heat at all, so it would have to be planted very early in the spring to do any good in Ks. That is an awkward niche, and there are much more affordable alternatives.
