Is the triple & conventional the same hybrid with only the traits being the difference.? If not you're comparing apples to oranges. Not saying conventional is the way to go, as we plant as much triple as we are allowed. On the other hand I have seen our refuge corn outyield our triples in a few instances.

In this area this year you'll see hundreds of acres of triple corn that is laying flat & the refuge is still standing. Son has a field that the triple, both Monsanto event & Syengenta's Agrisure, that has been elbowed since July and the refuge is standing perfectly. Field was planted with 6 rows on one side of the planter Monsanto event, 4 rows in the middle refuge, & the other 6 rows Agrisure.
