Your problem is probably going to be either the little gearbox at the top of the vertical auger, or your flighting is worn too much on your vertical or on your horizontal unloading augers. Any of these conditions and the grain isn't taken away from the vertical auger fast enough, causing it to jam and push out of the bottom.
I would check the horizontal augers very closely and replace them as well if there is much wear at all. Otherwise you might wind up in the same boat again.
I'd replace the vertical auger with an extended wear auger, much thicker flighting. The little gearbox can be rebuilt, but we just replaced it last time we replaced our vertical and horizontal augers, even though the one we had seemed OK. Too much work getting that little booger out of there to put an old one back in.
As far as the metal work, I can't remember off the top of my head exactly how it's made, so I can't really help you with that one. | |
