Australia
I could write for an hour on the differences in quality of installation and backup systems between a DOT CORS station and a private station put up by a machinery dealer. There is simply no comparison. Most Ag dealers have to wait for a complaint before they know a station is down; the DOT knows within seconds because it is remotely monitored. The Ag dealer has to quickly drive out and do repairs so that customers covered by that single station are back up and running... they may need parts etc; the DOT can compensate for that station by calculating a correction from the surrounding stations so the user can keep working immediately (many DOTs have a hot spare receiver at each station as well for instant backup).

I have to say that by the basic nature of your local dealer's network design you will have much more downtime that the guys who will run off a DOT system. The DOT systems are designed not to go down in the first place, and they have invested millions upfront to make a downtime event a very rare occurrence. This is not true for most private local networks.

Cheers John
