Jerry, I am not sure if they would have helped in THIS much rain, but our Curvetine closing wheels leave a series of dimples which really help in crusting type conditions like these. They have been especially useful in cotton and other crust-damaged crops. Even after a hard rain and crust forms, the soil fractures between the dimples giving the seeds a place to emerge. If the ground stays moist for a few days or a week the plants may emerge before too much crust forms. What closing wheels were you using on the planter? Standard rubber? May not be much of a problem here however esp if things stay moist for a couple days. Regards, Jim at Dawn |
