central - east central Minnesota -

I cut added salt yrs ago and when shopping, I look at ingrediants and chose those that have least amount of salt and sugars.
I look for cane/beet sugar vs. high fruitose sugars. There are BBQ sauces that have beet sugar and not HFC sugars.
We don't do pop/soda's. Ice cream occasionally, but simply watch what goes in the mouth.
Salt was easy to cut out, simply because everything bought seems to have so much salt in it. Now, trying to find products that have limited to no salt is very hard. Chips - can count on one hand, the bags of chips bought in a year.
Ms Dash salt substatue (herb/spices) works great for seasoning, instead of salt.
As posted, black pepper is good, fruit is great (natrual sugars pass through the body) and veg's.
Red, orange and green peppers add flavor also.

One down fall is jerkey during hunting season . .. . trying to go with summer sausages instead (still has salt, but much less the jerkey) . ..  .
