interesting you say that some breeders are breeding horned genes back into polled. I had one bull calf with horns last year and it reminded me that there are some horned genes in my bull's pedigree . It must have lined up just right with some horned genes in this older polled cow's background. Anyway this ended up being a super calf. I need to go pick up the boxed beef in a couple days so I will know better how the real comparison comes out - on a fork. What I did find out is that if you have horned cattle they ALL need to have horns. This one horned calf l had learned he can get a good spot for a treat or at the waterer by using his horns on his hornless buddies. I would find hair from the others on the tips of his horns.
