NC Iowa | back in 1970, i was in navy boot camp at great lakes. home of the naval hospital. this was during Vietnam war, and the hospital was in great need for blood. us recruits were ordered to volunteer to donate blood. mine type was a pos, and they had enough of that just before they got to me. afterward, the company commander ordered the company out to the grinder for drill. it was a hot hot day. i remember maybe 15-20 recruits passing out on the asphalt. really glad i missed out on that, but i have no desire to ever 'donate' blood after that. | |
