Faunsdale, AL | I agree, I would make sure it’s a trend and not a one-off before giving up on giving blood.
I had hepatitis around 10 years ago and understood that was a disqualifying event so I didn’t check into giving blood for a few years. Then one day I stopped by the blood-mobile when I saw one in town and asked. They read their book and said, no it was not disqualifying. I didn’t have time that day, so I didn’t donate.
Fast forward a few years and I had the time and actually donated a unit. A month later I got a notice I have a titer against hepatitis (fancy that!) and they discarded the blood. So I guess I’m done. I think actually if I lived in the right place the plasma would be a hot commodity because of the antibodies in it. But I don’t, so that’s that. | |
