i remember really smart agronomists pontificating that the canadian fire smoke would have negative effects on last years crops, however the results as we generally saw was "better than expected", at the very least the canadian smoke didnt harm the crops.

as to why they are doing this to us, in a lot of cases its a liberal with a hammer sees everything as a "nail" . some pushing this stuff see it as way to make money. those at the tippy top have nefarious designs. but there are strange bedfellows the tree huggers, farmers looking for the next great money making "opportunity" along with the druids.
