Northern Indiana
Stanchion barns with 50 cows or less left in the '70's. 100 cow herds disappeared in the '80's replaced by 200 cows dairies. Half of those quit in the '90's or went to 400 cows. Now our county only has 3 900 cow dairies and a corporate dairy. Of course we have Fair Oaks 50 miles away...

It is sad in my lifetime to see how much it has changed in my lifetime. the dairy families thru the '80 were hard-working, straight up honest people and always raised good-looking cattle (and daughters). I know it was inevitable, that's progress, but it hurts to see.
